{"id":101,"date":"2017-04-05T21:29:00","date_gmt":"2017-04-05T21:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esconeighbors.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=101"},"modified":"2017-04-05T21:29:00","modified_gmt":"2017-04-05T21:29:00","slug":"now-is-a-good-time-to-eat-your-flowers-nasturtium-jelly-and-vinegar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/escondidoneighbors.org\/?p=101","title":{"rendered":"Now is a good time to eat your flowers- Nasturtium jelly and vinegar!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\nNasturtium flowers make a most beautiful garden, but, you can also eat them.<\/p>\n<p>We just learned that the most beautiful jelly is made from Nasturtiums<\/p>\n<p>Here are two recipes. &nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.findingjoyinallthings.com\/2013\/07\/nasturtium-jelly.html?m=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nasturtium-jelly1<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sowanddipity.com\/nasturtium-jelly-recipe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nasturtium-jelly-recipe 2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our Escondido Neighbors United taste testers agree, adding a little dash of hot sauce is a good idea but it is great without it too.<\/p>\n<p>\nWe&#8217;ve also learned that you can add nasturtium flowers to vinegar and make nasturtium vinegar. &nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/therunawayspoon.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/nasturtium-butter-and-nasturtium-vinegar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nasturtium Vinegar recipe<\/a><\/p>\n<div style=\"font-family: georgia, georgia, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-top: 1em; padding: 0px;\">\n<strong>Nasturtium Vinegar<\/strong><\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: georgia, georgia, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-top: 1em; padding: 0px;\">\n1 ounce nasturtium flowers<\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: georgia, georgia, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-top: 1em; padding: 0px;\">\nWhite wine or champagne vinegar to cover, about 1 cup<\/div>\n<div style=\"font-family: georgia, georgia, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-top: 1em; padding: 0px;\">\nClean a bottle or 1 pint mason jar in the dishwasher and thoroughly dry. Gently place the blossoms into the bottle or jar and pour the vinegar over.
