{"id":221,"date":"2014-09-11T16:58:00","date_gmt":"2014-09-11T16:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esconeighbors.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=221"},"modified":"2014-09-11T16:58:00","modified_gmt":"2014-09-11T16:58:00","slug":"san-diego-water-board-response-to-chatham-recent-monitoring-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/escondidoneighbors.org\/?p=221","title":{"rendered":"San Diego Water Board Response to Chatham recent Monitoring Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>IMPORTANT. <\/b>Here is yesterday&#8217;s response from the Regional Water Board to DTSC about the recent submittal on Chatham. <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/file\/d\/0B6kjEpyeqigfRUhKc3RXZWpZdWc\/edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Water Board July 10 2014 Response Letter<\/a>&nbsp; There is some important information in here that supports several of the comments made in our Escondido Neighbors United comment letter&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/file\/d\/0B6kjEpyeqigfWG8xX01kVzA4VS1VY013eHFXNFQtMHpEWEZB\/edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ENU Comment Letter on July 11, 2014 submittal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among many important comments, the Water Board recommends and affirms that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Contamination trends are increasing in downgradient wells;<\/li>\n<li>Site related constituents continue to discharge to Felicita Creek above water quality objectives;<\/li>\n<li>TCE is not the only site contaminant of concern and others should be plotted;<\/li>\n<li>Well owners with detected contamination must be notified quickly;<\/li>\n<li>DTSC should require more investigation and evaluate actions to stop the discharge into Felicita Creek;<\/li>\n<li>Discharges to the Creek are causing direct human and ecological exposure to site related constituents;<\/li>\n<li>Additional wells, including near the school, should be sampled;<\/li>\n<li><i>decades to centuries<\/i> was not the agreed to timeframe for the remedy to work;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Process of natural attenuation is not yet proved; and,<\/li>\n<li>The Chatham PRP Group continues to be in violation of discharge prohibitions of the Basin Plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nPLEASE REVIEW if you are interested in this site! &nbsp;We remain very grateful to the Water Board&#8217;s involvement in this issue and for continuing to engage and stand up for water quality in our region!<br \/>\n<b>A public meeting is expected SEPTEMBER 30, 2014.<\/b> &nbsp;We will share more information when we receive it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>IMPORTANT.
