{"id":91,"date":"2017-09-15T19:06:00","date_gmt":"2017-09-15T19:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/esconeighbors.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=91"},"modified":"2017-09-15T19:06:00","modified_gmt":"2017-09-15T19:06:00","slug":"help-save-our-library-rally-to-roll-out-the-unwelcome-matt-for-lss-saturday-sept-16-at-10-am","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/escondidoneighbors.org\/?p=91","title":{"rendered":"Help Save our LIbrary:  Rally to Roll out the UnWelcome Matt for LS&#038;S Saturday, Sept 16 at 10 am"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"line-height: normal; text-align: left;\">\n<i><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">LS&amp;S<br \/>\ncorporation and equity owners to be focus of <b>UN-<\/b>welcoming activities<\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\n<b><span lang=\"PT\" style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; mso-ansi-language: PT;\"><br \/><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Library supporters will converge in front of<br \/>\nthe Escondido Public Library on <b>Saturday, September 16 at 10-11am<\/b> in a rally to<br \/>\noppose outsourcing our library to Library Systems and Services (LS&amp;S), a Maryland-based corporation owned by an equity firm.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\n<i><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\"><br \/><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">After<br \/>\nreading how LS&amp;S mis-managed operations and staff at an Oregon library<br \/>\n(which they have operated for over 10 years) and with the looming vote on the<br \/>\npart of the Escondido City Council to hand over our library to the same<br \/>\ncorporation, we knew we had to get our message out even more strongly. &nbsp;Here is information that just surfaced about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.escondidoindivisible.com\/2017\/09\/10\/scathing-report-of-lss-performance-in-oregon-fuels-opposition-to-outsourcing-of-escondido-library\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LS&amp;S&#8217;s record in Oregon<\/a>. &nbsp;The full report is <a href=\"https:\/\/wp.me\/p8veb5-zp\">here.<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\n<span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">Members<br \/>\nof the Save Our Escondido Library Coalition will <span style=\"background: white; letter-spacing: -.1pt;\">ceremoniously remove the &#8220;existing&#8221; Welcome<br \/>\nMat in front of the library and replace it with Escondido&#8217;s &#8220;One-and-Only <b>Unwelcome<\/b><br \/>\nMat&#8221; specifically for the City Council&#8217;s proposed library outsourcing<br \/>\ncompany, LS&amp;S. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\n<span style=\"background: white; font-size: 12.0pt; letter-spacing: -.1pt;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\n<span style=\"background: white; font-size: 12.0pt; letter-spacing: -.1pt;\">Coalition members plan to show LS&amp;S<br \/>\nin no uncertain terms that we don&#8217;t need them and don&#8217;t want them here!&nbsp; <i>&nbsp;<\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"line-height: normal;\">\n<span style=\"background: white; font-size: 12.0pt; letter-spacing: -.1pt;\"><i><br \/><\/i><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<span style=\"background: white; font-size: 12.0pt; letter-spacing: -.1pt;\">Members will be on hand to distribute flyers and collect<br \/>\npetition signatures during the rally. &nbsp;There will also be the opportunity<br \/>\nto make a small iPhone video and send to LS&amp;S investors and management. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\"><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt;\">The library is located at<br \/>\n239 S.
